When the conversation turns to the Club Car DS Potentiometer or MCOR, most customers know they are at least talking about the throttle sensor. This acronym stands for motor controller output regulator. It is a small black plastic unit installed below the seat and has linkage coming from under the floorboards. When you press your pedal, a cog is rotated inside this unit, which creates a change in resistance. At rest, this sensor sends out five thousand ohms to the controller to indicate no throttle is being applied. As you press the gas pedal, the resistance starts to drop. When you are at full throttle, the resistance is zero. As his unit gets older, it can give an inaccurate range, like seven thousand to two thousand. Your caddie will have a dead portion of the throttle and not achieve full speed if that happens.
